I am interested in the maths that make the puzzle possible, namely how to choose and place the numbers to guarantee uniqueness of the solution. I am trying to create my own version with three discs. Could you give me a hint or a reference on this? Thanks :)

I bought myself one similar to this one, but it does not tell you which number each column has to add up to, you must figure it out first. The best way to solve it, just like the one you show, is to *add numbers by circunferences* instead of columns, as each disc can only hide two sets of numbers from the disc below. This leads to a system of equations which solution will tell you which numbers from each disc must be shown, i. e., the position of each disc

My grandfather used to make these, but he put his thumb on top, and then moved it to the bottom to change the direction. Same principle. These are so fun!

You could probably find underground water with it too.

190 is an even number but is odd for an order.

I got this in March 2021. The first time I tried it I stumbled across the solution after about 10 minutes. I tried to make some mental notes so I could do it again but I've been unable to solve it a second time. As far as I remember there will are no numbers greater than 20 in the solution.

Too dark of a stain. "Figure ground". Important concept. Puzzle is too hard to see. Directions say five fixed marbkes, but only four are fixed.
